Aluminium Price in India Climbs 1.3% to USD 3,692/tonne

Aluminium in India rose 1.3% on the week to USD 3,692/tonne as of 2026-09-04, with import-parity pricing raising costs for downstream buyers.

Aluminium in India was quoted at USD 3,692/tonne as of 2026-09-04, up 1.3% from USD 3,645/tonne on 2026-08-28. The monthly change stands at +1.5%, from USD 3,637/tonne on 2026-08-05. Over the quarter the price has fallen 9.3%, from USD 4,073/tonne on 2026-06-05, while the year-on-year change is +27.5%, from USD 2,896/tonne on 2025-09-04.

Industry associations reported on July 14, 2026 that import-parity pricing and an 8.25% effective import levy have increased raw material costs for downstream MSMEs. This bears directly on Indian buyers of the metal.

On the supply side, Emirates Global Aluminium announced on August 14, 2026 that it plans to restore production at its main smelter to pre-war levels by the first quarter of 2027. Norsk Hydro also reported on August 14, 2026 that it resumed increased alumina production at its Alunorte refinery in Brazil after a temporary gas shortage.

The 52-week high for the commodity is USD 4,150/tonne, recorded on 2026-06-02, and the 52-week low is USD 2,887/tonne, recorded on 2025-09-25.
